May 30, 2021 – The Tooth Ferry was summoned.

Montreal mob leader Raynald Desjardins was returned to prison after violating his parole by meeting with one of his former bodyguards. With a war on the street raging, the notoriously savvy gangster reached out to The Tooth Fairy for protection. Instead, he got sent back to the can.

Desjardins had been paroled in April from a 14-year sentence he was serving for a murder-conspiracy conviction related to the 2011 gangland assassination of deported American mob boss Salvatore (Sal the Ironworker) Montagna. He was taken back into custody last week by RCMP for having a face-to-face sit down with Jean-Charles (The Tooth Fairy) Denomme, a drug kingpin and one-time driver of his.

The 67-year old French-Canadian Desjardins was the longtime right-hand man to Montreal mafia don Vito Rizzuto until the pair had a falling out upon Rizzuto being sent to prison in the 2000s and the Great Canadian Mob War breaking out. Desjardins joined forces with Montagna, who headed New York’s Bonanno crime family and was booted from the United States in 2009, to oppose Rizzuto’s rule. The violence has yet to cease and has spread from Quebec to Ontario.

The alliance between Desjardins and Montagana was short lived. In September 2011, Montagna put a murder contract on Desjardins head and sent a gunmen on a jet ski to kill him but instead got into a shootout with Desjardins then-bodyguard Jonathon (Johnny the Kid) Mignacca. Two months later, on November 24, 2011, Montagna was slain in a private residence on Desjardins’ orders.

Jean-Charles Denomme, 33, is connected to the Hells Angels biker club, a known mafia affiliate in the Montreal area for decades. Denomme was paroled from prison last fall for a 2013 narcotics trafficking bust RCMP dubbed Operation Carcan. Imprisoned Canadian Hells Angels boss Maurice (Mom) Boucher, closely aligned with Vito Rizzuto, allegedly placed a murder contract on Desjardins while Desjardins was behind bars. Rizzuto died of cancer in December 2013
