February 22, 2021 – The Silk Road movie (Lionsgate) came out last Friday, reviving interest in the story of Internet gangster Ross Ulbricht, who in the early 2010s ran the so-called Dark Web as a cyber crime lord and Mark Zuckerberg-gone-haywire overseeing a website called Silk Road devoted to free commerce for illicit items (a gangland E Bay of sorts). Ulbricht was a complete game changer in the direction of the underworld in the 21st Century.

Nick Robinson (Jurassic World, The Kings Of Summer, Love, Simon) plays Ulbricht in the film and Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies) plays the DEA agent chasing him using old-school tactics. The movie is helmed by Tiller Russell (Night Stalker: The Hunt For A Serial Killer, The Seven Five, Operation Odessa), a producer and documentarian transitioning into scripted-drama directing.

Ulbricht, 36, is serving a life prison sentence after a 2013 joint-takedown by the FBI, DEA and IRS, where he was brought into custody in an elaborate sting at the San Francisco Public Library. He was convicted at a high-profile winter 2015 trial in New York City.

Regarding his historical relevance, it can’t be overstated that Ulbricht created what is the new-age gangster, someone able to earn gargantuan profit and influence from wrongdoing with a few simple strokes of a computer keyboard, as easily, if not, easier, than with a gun or a knife. Ulbricht’s billion-dollar Silk Road black market was a reference to a famous ancient Asian trade route conquered by Mongolian Emperor Genghis Khan in the 12th century.

Similar to a traditional crime boss, the Texas-born and Masters Degree-educated Ulbricht pocketed a commission or “tribute” on each transaction that took place on Silk Road, a number that the FBI estimates to be a hefty $80 million dollars. The IRS cyber crimes unit traced $425 million dollars of sales commission attributed to site administrators.

Silk Road was launched in February 2011 and active until Ulbricht’s arrest in October of 2013. He was convicted on charges of racketeering, drug trafficking, computer hacking and money laundering less than two years later and will never see the free world again. Originally, the case against Ulbricht included six attempted murders, five of which were dropped prior to jury selection and one that is sitting uncharged in an indictment out of Maryland.

Ulbricht’s trial began on January 13, 2015. At the trial, he offered a “withdrawal defense,” claiming that although he helped launch the Silk Road website, it was merely an economic experiment that he had abandoned shortly thereafter and he is being framed by a former friend and Silk Road-associate of his named, Mark Karpeles.

The FBI believes Ulbricht tried to have a half-dozen people killed for threatening to reveal the identities of Silk Road account holders. Using the site to hire hit men, he shelled out over $725,000 in fees but failed to get any of his desired murder plots off the ground.

Federal prosecutors told jurors that Silk Road was part of what is referred to as the “dark web,” “deep web,” or “back web.” FBI agents specializing in coding and cyber language, explained in their testimony that the Dark Web was a place on-line where domains aren’t easily found, they run on rogue browser systems and won’t appear using standard search engines. To increase anonymity, people paid for items and services on the site with cryptocurrency.

Karpeles, 35, is a shady French-born internet entrepreneur and financier, who was convicted of fraud and web piracy in France in 2010 and founded the American non-profit group, The Bitcoin Foundation, in early 2012 in an effort to lobby and promote the cryptocurrency’s usage and adoption in the United States. He denied any links to the managing of Silk Road on his Twitter account in the days before Ulbricht’s trial began.

By using a target-specific grassroots marketing campaign, Ulbricht, who describes himself as a libertarian, built Silk Road into a 1.2 billion-dollar criminal empire, virtually by himself, in a matter of 18 months. According to the FBI, Ulbricht started the site for the sole purpose of selling hallucinogenic mushrooms and the business paradigm quickly expanded from there.

The shadowy webmaster of Silk Road went by the on-line alias of Dread Pirate Roberts (a nod to the Cary Elwes character in the 1987 film The Princess Bride). Ulbricht was outed as Dread Pirate Roberts at trial. A collection of FBI and IRS agents testified at Ulbricht’s trial about how their investigation into the Silk Road website led to Ulbricht’s doorstep……or computer, in this particular situation, and how finding him, actually, wasn’t all that difficult.

IRS Agent Gary Alford unearthed Ulbricht’s identity via a basic Google search. Typing in the search terms “Silk Road” and “Bitcoin,” he discovered an on-line chat forum centered around Bitcoin where he saw posts from a username known as “Altoid.” Alford found posts seeking code-writers and programmers and directing those interested to Ulbricht’s personal email address (Rulbricht@Gmail.com). Later posts, showed the Altoid account promoting the Silk Road website to forum browsers, writing “it’s kind of like an anonymous Amazon.com.”

Born and raised in a middle-class family in Austin, Texas, Ulbricht attended college at the University of Texas-Dallas campus and then graduate school out east at Penn State, earning a master’s degree in material sciences and engineering. He moved to California in 2012

“The kid Ulbricht was an evil version of Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook founder),” said an FBI agent. “His vision for success was the free-market economy on acid.”

February 23, 2021 – Uncle Sam came for El Chapo’s wife this week, arresting the 31-year old former beauty queen, Emma Coronel Aispuro, Monday morning on federal racketeering and narcotics trafficking charges, as the Narcos “First Lady,” attempted to a board a flight at Dulles Airport in Virginia, just outside Washington D.C.

Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman, 63, the world’s most notorious and feared drug kingpin of the 21st Century, has been in U.S. custody since 2017. Guzman was found guilty on racketeering, drug and murder counts in a heavily-covered 2019 trial in New York City and is serving a life prison sentence in the BOPs SuperMax facility in Florence, Colorado.

Federal prosecutors allege Coronel Aispuro, who has two daughters by El Chapo, helped her husband run his Mexican Sinaloa Cartel while he was on the run from the law in the 2010s, including being part of the planning in Guzman’s daring underground escape from a Mexican prison in 2015. Guzman’s sons from another marriage, Coronel Aispuro and a federal informant, organized the intricate details of the escape plan.

Coronel Aispuro has dual citizenship between Mexico and the United States. She was born in San Francisco. Her father, Ines (El Uno) Coronel Barreras, was a cattle rancher and Sinaloa Cartel lieutenant, doing his business in Northern California, Colorado, Arizona and Durango, Mexico.

The 53-year old “El Uno” was one of El Chapo’s top marijuana smugglers, working the Southwest border region separating Mexico and Arizona and Mexico and Texas. He’s currently doing a 10-year prison term in Mexico for a 2017 drug-conspiracy conviction.

El Chapo married Emma Coronel Aispuro in 2009. The pair met in 2007 and have 9-year old twin daughters. Coronel Aispuro appeared in the VH1 reality television show, “Cartel Crew.”

February 24, 2021 – Dogged Detroit attorney Ralph Musilli died of natural causes this week at 75, just months removed from seeing his most infamous and persecuted client, former Motor City teenage drug dealer Richard (White Boy Rick) Wershe, Jr., finally walk free after more than 32 years behind bars on a single cocaine-possession conviction in a case that drew national attention and became the plot of a big-budget Hollywood film. Wershe, Jr., was also a controversial underage government informant as a young boy, helping the FBI, DEA and Detroit Police Department make hundreds of cases when he wasn’t even old enough to drive.

Nobody fought harder to free Wershe, Jr. than Musilli. His passion and demand for justice to be served in regards to the Wershe, Jr. case was authentic and his work on the case was tireless and trademark Musilli scrappy. The relentless pursuit of relief for Wershe, Jr. headed by Musilli appeared to reach its conclusion with a motion for resentencing (brilliantly-drafted by Musilli) in front of Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Dana Hathaway, which was granted in September 2015, and then within days, blocked by a higher court after an appeal effort was launched by the Wayne County Prosecutors Office in opposition of Wershe. Jr.’s release.

Musilli practiced law in the Detroit area for over five decades. In 2016, he was listed in the Top Attorneys of North America book. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Detroit and his law degree from Michigan State.

Barely a teen, Wershe, Jr. was operated as an undercover mole by a federal drug task force between the early summer of 1984 and the late fall of 1986, recruited directly out of the eighth grade by FBI agents and Detroit Police narcotics unit detectives, and tasked with infiltrating the politically-connected, all Black, Curry Brothers Gang on the city’s Eastside. The gang was toppled in April 1987, mainly courtesy of intelligence gleaned from Wershe, Jr., who was cut loose from the task force payroll just months before.

The May 1987 arrest of a then 17-year-old Wershe, Jr. in front of his grandmother’s house — located in the gang’s neighborhood — for possession of a box containing 8 kilos of cocaine found following a routine traffic stop in front of the residence resulted in a head-scratching life sentence. Every member of the Curry Brothers Gang convicted in their case was out of prison by 1999.

Wershe, Jr., 51, was released from a Florida prison and returned to his home in Michigan in the summer of 2020. When he walked out from behind the prison gates last June, he left the Florida Department of Correction as the longest-serving non-violent juvenile offender in American history.

Musilli met Wershe, Jr. when Wershe, Jr. was just 15 and less than six months into his work with the government. Wershe, Jr. had been shot by a Curry Brothers Gang member and Musilli represented him in an insurance claim that netted $40,000 in damages.

Back in the 1980s, the baby-faced and flamboyant Wershe, Jr. was a genuine pop-culture phenomenon in the Midwest, a tabloid gangster in the pre TMZ era known for wearing mink coats, lots of jewelry, dating beautiful older women and basking in the glow of his celebrity in floor seats for Detroit Pistons games and VIP treatment at the city’s hottest restaurant and clubs. The urban mythology surrounding him quickly moved out beyond Michigan, inspiring episodes of hit television shows like Miami Vice and 21 Jump Street at the time and a 2018 movie starring Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey as Wershe, Jr.’s dad and newcomer Richie Merritt in the title role.

With pressure mounting from the McConaughey movie and a critically-acclaimed documentary on the subject winning the Detroit Free Press Film Festival, the Michigan Board of Parole decided to let Wershe out in 2017. A conviction he took while in a witness-protection unit of a Florida prison for engaging in a stolen-car conspiracy in the early 2000s, sent him to Florida for three years to do a small stretch of time for his 2005 guilty plea in the auto-theft case.

February 25, 2021 – Narcos Diva Emma Coronel Aispuro, aka “La Reinita,” the wife of world-famous drug lord Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman, was denied bail this week in federal court in Washington D.C. after being detained at Dulles International Airport in Virginia on Monday morning and charged with conspiracy, drug and aiding-and-abetting counts linked to her husband’s business as boss of Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel. The 31-year old former beauty queen and reality television show character will have to await trial from behind bars. At least for now.

The almost-mythic “El Chapo” Guzman, the most notorious crime czar on the planet, was convicted at trial in federal court out of New York in 2019 (found guilty of heading the Sinaloa Cartel) and is doing life in prison at the U.S. Supermax facility in Colorado. Coronel Aispuro faces life in prison as well if convicted in her case.

El Reinita means “Little Queen” and Coronel Aispuro has drug-boss blood. Her dad ran a Sinaloa Cartel crew and operated in both the U.S. and Mexico.

Federal prosecutors allege Coronel Aispuro, who has two daughters by 63-year old El Chapo, helped her husband run his Mexican Sinaloa Cartel while he was on the run from the law in the 2010s, including being part of the planning in Guzman’s daring underground escape from a Mexican prison in 2015. Guzman’s sons from another marriage, Coronel Aispuro and a federal informant, organized the intricate details of the escape plan, per the indictment.

Coronel Aispuro has dual citizenship between Mexico and the United States. She was born in San Francisco. In 2006, she was crowned Miss Teen Sinaloa.

Ines (El Uno) Coronel Barreras, El Reinita’s father, was a cattle rancher and Sinaloa Cartel lieutenant, doing his business in Northern California, Colorado, Arizona and Durango, Mexico. For most of her childhood, Coronel Aispuro lived in Durango and as a teenager she won several beauty pageants.

The pair met in 2007 at a community dance hall and have 9-year old twin daughters. Coronel Aispuro appeared in the VH1 reality television show, “Cartel Crew.” She was a regular at her husband’s trial two years ago, unflinchingly sitting through testimony from federal agents implicating her in criminal activity and seeing her face dot the covers of New York gossip rags as the paparazzi snapped photos of her every move when going to and from court every day.

February 26, 2021 – East coast mob turncoat Anthony (Tubby) Persiano was inducted into at least two crime families, according to a transcript of a 2015 Philadelphia mafia induction ceremony he participated in and recorded for the federal government that recently landed in the lap of America’s leading mob scribe, Jerry Capeci. Capeci’s Gangland News ran portions of the transcript this week in his weekly column.

Persiano, 61, was previously “made” into the New Jersey wing of the Lucchese crime family, per Gangster Report sources. These sources say Persiano “transferred” into Philly’s Bruno-Scarfo crime family in the early 2010s. He flipped in the summer of 2015, just months before taking his second blood oath of Omerta in an undisclosed South Philly residence.

Reputed Philadelphia mob underboss Steven (Handsome Stevie) Mazzone, rising-star capo Domenic (Teflon Dom) Grande and several others in and around the Bruno-Scarfo clan were indicted in a racketeering case in November 2020. Mazzone, 57, helped oversee the October 2015 ceremony. Tubby Persiano reported to the 41-year old Grande in the Philly mob hierarchy, per sources. Grande is staring down multiple narcotics trafficking charges in the case, charges stemming from Persiano’s recordings.

Alleged Philly mob street boss Michael (Mikey Lance) Lancellotti conducted the making ritual and when he addressed Persiano, he noted that he knew that Persiano had been through an induction ceremony in the past.

“Anthony, I know you went through this , okay, we got to make it official with this family, you understand that?” asked Lancellotti before pricking Persiano’s finger and burning a saint card in his hand.

Capeci reported that attendees at the ceremony included, but were not limited to Persiano, Mikey Lance, Handsome Stevie Mazzone, introduced to the new button men as the family’s underboss, Joseph (Uncle Joe) Ligambi, introduced as consigliere, and John (Johnny Chang) Ciancaglini and George (Georgie Boy) Borgesi, both introduced as capos, respectively. Others Capeci named present as indicated in the transcript were Mazzone’s and Borgesi’s “soldier” brothers, Salvatore (Sonny) Mazzone and Anthony Borgesi, as well as “soldier” Anthony (Cousin Tony) Accardo.

After the ceremony was completed — five initiates became made men that night –, the participants “tied-in,” joining hands as one in a circle and saying “La Familia” in unison. Capeci reported 15 men were present at the ceremony. The legendary “Dean” of true-crime writing in New York City, was the first to report that Mikey Lance, not presently facing any legal action, conducted the Bruno-Scarfo making in a Gangland News column posted back in December.

Mazzone and Ciancaglini did most of the talking to the new initiates, according to Capeci’s reporting. Borgesi, 57, has allegedly been the family’s acting boss for the past two years.

Handsome Stevie Mazzone was succinct in his comments ending the top-secret powwow.

“No side deals. None of that. Always remember to touch base. Got it? Good, then. Let’s go get something to eat,” he said.

Capeci floated rumors in his Gangland News column that Tubby Persiano could possibly have been made into three different mob families. Gangland News cited two sources who could not confirm that rumor, but admitted being told that on the street.

The Hardy Boys from Brooklyn, Damion (World) Hardy and Myron (Wise) Hardy, founded the Cash Money Brothers drug gang in the Lafayette Gardens housing complex in the 1990s. The Hardys named their gang after the fictional Cash Money Brothers drug empire depicted in the movie New Jack City (1991).

CMB controlled the Bed-Stuy neighborhood where rap legend Notorious B.I.G. hailed from and many of “Biggie Smalls” Junior Mafia group were CMB affiliated. Biggie went to school with the Hardy brothers. Both Hardys dated rap queen Lil’ Kim, a paramour of Biggie Smalls and the First Lady of Bad Boy Records. World Hardy dated Lil’ Kim in 2002

By the end of the decade, CMB was at war with The Peanuts Gang led by the Hardy Boys bitter rival Ivery (Peanut) Davis.

February 27, 2021 – Iconic Washington D.C. drug kingpin Rayful Edmond may be seeing freedom soon.

The 56-year old Edmond, Washington D.C.’s biggest dope peddler of all-time, who ruled the District’s crack trade of the late 1980s with flash and panache, had his life sentence reduced to 20 years this past week by U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan due to his cooperation with federal authorities. Specifically, Sullivan cited Edmond helping the DEA solve a pair of murders. Edmond still has to contend with another 30-year bid he owes for a drug dealing case he took in prison. But he’s already done a total of 32 years behind bars and it’s very possible the judge in his 1994 drug case could just kick him loose, per legal experts. Edmond’s attorneys are hoping for a declaration of time served.

Edmond was arrested and locked up in April 1989. He hasn’t tasted freedom since that spring three decades ago. After getting busted brokering a $200,000,000 cocaine deal with Colombian Cartel members, Edmond began cooperating.

The legend of Rayful Edmund stretches far and wide along the east coast. His rein lasted roughly five years and authorities estimated he cleared 50 million dollars in profits. Superstar rappers Jay-Z, Meek Mill and Rick Ross have all name-checked Edmond in their lyrics, cementing his status as a street legend beyond the borders of the Beltway. The Washington Post printed more than 300 articles on Edmond’s reign, indictment and trial in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

February 28, 2021 – The Little Queen has loose lips. And Mexico’s once uber-powerful Sinaloa Cartel, could be in jeopardy of folding under the pressure of her future testimony.

Narcos boss El Chapo’s wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, dubbed “La Reinita” or “Little Queen” by the press and her social media followers and cartel subjects alike, will be cooperating against his sons and stepsons, who currently run the Sinaloa Cartel, according to federal law enforcement sources talking to the New York Post. The sources tell the New York Post, she intends on joining the Witness Protection Program.

The 31-year old wife of international drug kingpin Joaquin (El Chapo) Guzman, La Reinita was taken into federal custody by DEA agents last Monday in Virginia and charged in a drug conspiracy and aiding-and-abetting case when she arrived in the U.S. from Mexico at Dulles International Airport outside Washington D.C. On Tuesday, she was denied bail. Coronel Aispuro’s father is a top lieutenant of El Chapo’s. She is accused of helping her husband and his sons oversee the Sinaloa drug cartel empire while 63-year old El Chapo serves a life prison sentence and is looking at a 10-year prison sentence of her own, if found guilty.

Coronel Aispuro is a former beauty queen, an Instagram influencer and a VH1 reality television star. Married in 2009, La Reinita and El Chapo have elementary-school aged twin daughters (Emaili and Maria) and a 32-year age difference. Last year, Coronel Aispuro trademarked the term “El Chapo Guzman,” for potential licensing deals.

Guzman is the world’s most notorious and feared drug kingpin of the 21st Century, has been in U.S. custody since 2017. A mythic figure around the globe — fashioned a super villain of sorts by friends, foe and flocking media like –, Guzman was found guilty on racketeering, drug and murder counts in a heavily-covered 2019 trial in New York City. Today, he is serving a life prison sentence in the BOPs SuperMax facility in Florence, Colorado.

Federal prosecutors allege Coronel Aispuro was part of the planning in Guzman’s daring underground escape from a Mexican prison in 2015. According to the DEA, El Chapo’s four eldest sons control day-to-day operations of the Sinaloa Cartel. The cartel, which at one time was the biggest in the world, is currently on the ropes with El Chapo locked up and resources being depleted due to war with another cartel known as the New Generation Jalisco group.

Coronel Aispuro has dual citizenship between Mexico and the United States. She was born in San Francisco. Her father, Ines (El Uno) Coronel Barreras, ran El Chapo’s marijuana smuggling business in Northern California, Colorado, Arizona and Durango, Mexico.

For most of her childhood, Coronel Aispuro lived in Durango. As a teenager she won several beauty pageants. El Uno, 53, is doing a 10-year stretch in a Mexican prison for drug trafficking and weapon offenses.

El Chapo married Emma Coronel Aispuro in 2009. The pair met in 2007 at the Coffee & Guava Festival in Canales, Mexico where she was participating in a beauty pageant at just 17.

Coronel Aispuro appeared in the VH1 reality television show, “Cartel Crew,” in 2019, the same year El Chapo was found guilty at a federal drug, racketeering and murder trial in New York. Coronel Aispuro’s Instagram account has more than a half-million followers.

March 1, 2021 – The Pagan’s Motorcycle Club’s quest for total east coast domination in the biker underworld was briefly disrupted last month when Pagan’s national president Keith (Conan the Barbarian) Richter was busted for a firearm offense after New Jersey State Police troopers stopped him on his Harley on his way home from a Pagan’s get-together held in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, just outside Philadelphia on February 20. Police found Richter to be in possession of a gun (a fully-loaded Ruger 45-caliber handgun), a no-no for the chiseled, hippy-haired biker guru considering he’s a convicted felon.

Richter’s expansion mandate is called the “Blue Wave Initiative” in club circles, per FBI and NJSP records. The state of Pennsylvania has long been an influence-center in the Pagan’s organization, dating back decades.

The 62-year old Richter is based out of Long Island, New York. He did 15 years in prison for extorting and trying to kill a New York strip club owner in the 1990s. He took power as the club’s overall boss in late 2017, according to ATF documents, and made plans to colonize rival territory in parts of Northeast Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The Pagan’s launched two new chapters in the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre area in the last 16 months. The Outlaws Motorcycle Club maintains a pair of “support clubs” in the region. The Outlaws are the most powerful club in the Midwest. Richter wants the Pagan’s to establish a strangle hold on the entire Northeastern seaboard.

On Richter’s orders, members of The Pagan’s in clubs east of the Mississippi River must wear an “East Coast” rocker rather than one that identifies any particular city or state as is customary in most other clubs. There have now been nine new Pagan’s chapters opened on the east coast under Richter’s Blue Wave initiative.

Richter was The Pagan’s national Sergeant at Arms in the 1990s when Philly biker don Steve (Stevie the Gorilla) Mondervergine ruled the club. At that time, Richter ran The Pagan’s Long Island chapter boss. One of Richter’s first moves as national president, was to reinstall Mondervergine, a former dirty police officer and high-ranking Italian mafia associate, as boss of The Pagan’s Philly chapter, per sources in federal law enforcement.

March 3, 2021 – The nephew of reputed Buffalo mob boss Joseph (Big Joe) Todaro, Cheektowaga strip club owner Pete Gerace, Jr., was indicted by the feds this week in Western New York for bribery and narcotics and sex trafficking conspiracies. The 53-year old Gerace, Jr., who owns Pharaoh’s Gentlemen’s Club, was taken into custody in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and has pleaded not guilty.

The indictment accuses Gerace, Jr. of paying cash bribes to law enforcement on a recurring basis to protect himself and his business from drug probes. Pharaoh’s was raided by Homeland Security agents in late 2019. Gerace, Jr.’s dad, the former owner of the club, Peter Gerace, Sr., coughed up $17,000 to the Office of Homeland Security for faulty hiring practices tied to 40 un-vetted hires at Pharaoh’s, in 2012.

Gerace, Sr. is married to Big Joe Todaro’s sister. His other son, Anthony Gerace, 41, was pinched on drugs and weapons in May 2019 after Homeland Security raided his Clarence Center home and found duffel bags filled with marijuana, 14 guns and $103,000 in cash.

Retired Buffalo DEA agent Joe Bongiovanni was indicted in November 2019 for shaking down drug dealers he believed were connected to Italian organized crime figures in the Buffalo area. Gerace, Jr. and Bongiovanni, 57, grew up together in the same neighborhood in Western New York. Sources familiar with the investigation say the reference to a strip club owner phoning Bongiovanni and asking for help in dealing with an overdosed stripper in Bongiovanni’s indictment is referring to Gerace, Jr. and Pharaoh’s.

Both Bongiovanni and Anthony Gerace have pleaded not guilty to the charges and are awaiting trial. Bongiovanni once worked for the Erie County Sheriff’s Department.

The federal government in Buffalo believes 74-year old Big Joe Todaro is the boss of the Magaddino crime family and that he succeeded his father in the job. Joseph (Lead Pipe Joe) Todaro, Sr., died after a prolonged battle with heart disease in 2012. He was 89 at the time of his death.

FBI documents allege Lead Pipe Joe assumed control in the Magaddino clan in the 1980s, named Big Joe his underboss and often used him as his acting boss. The Todaros pioneered the marketing of Buffalo wings with their enormously successful La Nova pizza and wing empire. In 1990, Big Joe Todaro was forced to resign from his leadership post in the LIUNA (Local 210) when his underworld ties came under the microscope. Big Joe Todaro, Jr. calls any assertions that he is a mob boss of any sort, “nonsense.”

Fading To Black In The LBC: Mexican Mafia OG Slain Under Cali Freeway Following Shunning For Assault On Boss

March 7, 2021 – Excommunicated Mexican Mafia member Sam (Blackie) Villalba was killed earlier this year in Los Angeles. The 64-year old Villalba was found shot to death under a Long Beach expressway offramp in January. The FBI and California State Police believe the slaying was gang related and retribution for past behavior.

The Mexican Mafia or “La Eme,” was founded in the California prison system in the late 1950s and eventually spread to the outside world. La Eme’s strongholds are in California and Texas. Villalba hailed from La Eme’s Artesia Boulevard Gang faction in Long Beach.

Indicted in a sweeping May 1995 racketeering and murder case, Villalba pleaded guilty and did 15 years in prison. The indictment charged him with taking part in the first-degree homicide of La Eme soldier, Charles (Charlie Brown) Manriquez, who was gunned down on March 25, 1992 in the Ramona Gardens housing project in Boyle Heights. Manriquez upset La Eme leaders by consulting on the film American Me, directed by and starring Edward James Olmos. The film was released less than two weeks prior to his murder.

American Me was a semi-fictionalized telling of the rise of the Mexican Mafia which included two male rape scenes that upset La Eme bosses. Manriquez was one of three consultants on the film to pop up dead in the aftermath of it hitting the big screen.

Villalba’s problems with La Eme began behind bars. He placed his hands on Mexican Mafia shot caller James (Rube) Soto during a heated exchange in the prison mess hall and after the incident was placed on the shelf by La Eme bosses.

Villalba returned to prison twice after he completed his term for racketeering and murder, both times for violating his parole (’14, ’16). He had been free since the winter of 2017 and moved back to the LBC, tempting fate some say, by simply being present in his old neighborhood.

“Shelvings” within the Le Eme rank-and-file are not uncommon, however, the murder of a soldier or shot caller banished from gang activity is rare. The last shelved member of the Mexican Mafia to be killed was Anthony (Ditto) Moreno, slaughtered along with his family in the heinous 1995 El Monte Massacre.

March 7, 2021 – Mexican Mafia boss Johnny (The Crow) Martinez will stand trial for the 2017 murder of a drug dealer in Placentia, California, after all. The case against Martinez was tossed late last year on an appeal related to grand jury evidence procedure. A state superior court judge concluded a preliminary hearing last week by ordering the case bound over for trial.

The Mexican Mafia or “La Eme,” was founded in the California prison system in the late 1950s and eventually spread to the outside world. La Eme’s strongholds are in California and Texas, but California’s faction is the most influential.

Martinez has made a power grab in La Eme in recent years, going from Orange County shot caller to the No. 1 boss of the entire organization, per California State Police records. He assumed the reins from the highly-respected Pete (The Fury) Ojeda, the Mexican Mafia’s longtime don, who has been in a 23-hour-a-day lockdown since 2016, and according to investigators, his rise to the throne has caused distrust, upheaval and wanton violence, both inside and outside prison walls .

State prosecutors allege Martinez ordered the murder of Robert Rios for refusing to pay a street tax. The 35-year old Rios was shot to death on his front lawn by a masked team of hit men on January 19, 2017. Besides Martinez, the feds charged seven other La Eme members with Rios’ slaying a year later.

Martinez, 45, has been behind bars for the past two decades, serving a 15-year prison stint for a murder from the 1990s. He green-lit Rios’ killing from inside Salinas Valley State Prison in Monterey, using a smuggled cell phone, according to the indictment filed against him. One of the members of hit team has turned state’s evidence.

March 9, 2021 – The Blue Wave is westward bound and shows no sign of slowing down. Sources speaking to Gangster Report and NJ.Com, say Pagan’s Motorcycle Club boss Keith (Conan the Barbarian) Richter recently opened Pagan’s chapters in Texas, Nevada and Puerto Rico and is actively forging alliances with Hispanic crime groups and other biker empires to bolster his conquest agenda.

Consider it the beginning of “Phase 2” of the so-called Blue Wave mandate.

Two sources in New York law enforcement, claim Richter intends on targeting Arizona, Oklahoma and Colorado next in his expansion campaign dubbed the Blue Wave Initiative. This is in addition to the club doubling its roster size in the four years of Richter’s time at the helm in what could be called “Phase 1” of the Blue Wave, where the chiseled 62-year old hippy-haired biker god ordered an aggressive east coast expansion and earned supreme loyalty from the men he led.

Richter was arrested last month on his way home to Long Island from a Pagan’s party in suburban Philadelphia, on a gun-possession charge. He is behind bars on a parole violation stemming from the case. The party, which took place on the night of February 20, is an annual event at the Lancaster, Pennsylvania Pagan’s chapter clubhouse in honor of deceased chapter member Robert (The Mailman) Rutherford, who was killed in the notorious Hellraiser’s Ball Brawl in Long Island in February 2002.

Somebody at the party tipped the feds off to the fact that Richter had a gun in a secret compartment of his white-colored GMC SUV and was headed back to New York. Local police in New Jersey’s Mercer County Sheriffs Department made the traffic stop and arrest. The state of Pennsylvania has long been an influence-center in the Pagan’s organization, dating back decades.

Richter is based out of Long Island and was the Long Island Pagan’s chapter boss and the club’s national Sergeant At Arms in the 1990s before being sent to prison for extorting and trying to kill a New York strip club owner. He was released in 2012 and took power as the Pagan’s national president by force in 2017, per ATF documents.

Since assuming the reins, Richter has colonized rival territory in parts of Northeast Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey, Rhode Island and Connecticut, planting flags for the Pagan’s while absorbing smaller clubs and support clubs and “patching” over hundreds of new members. Richter wants the Pagan’s to establish a strangle hold on the entire Northeastern seaboard, per federal documents.

On Richter’s orders, members of The Pagan’s in clubs east of the Mississippi River must wear an “East Coast” rocker rather than one that identifies any particular city or state as is customary in most other clubs. There have been nine new Pagan’s chapters opened on the east coast under the Blue Wave mandate issued by Richter. The two out west and the one in Puerto Rico makes a dozen all together, not even counting the support club affiliates established around the country.

Richter has what some call a “cult of personality” appeal throughout the Pagan’s ranks and is as beloved and feared like no other figure in the American biker world since the famed Harry (Taco) Bowman days of The Outlaws out of Detroit and Chicago in the 1990s. According to those familiar with Richter’s plan, the Blue Wave is aimed at going directly after the Hells Angels, the biggest biker brand on the west coast.

The 2002 Hellraisers Ball was a gala being thrown at a banquet hall by the Hells Angels in New York that was attacked by several vans full of Pagan’s, including “Mailman” Rutherford. Richter was in prison at the time of the brawl which saw 73 Pagan’s face various rioting and assault cases.

In prison, Richter cultivated relationships with Latino gangbangers and leaders of The Mongols Motorcycle Club, per sources, and is leveraging those ties on the street today with his Blue Wave push. For the first time in club history, Richter is allowing non-white members to join, specifically inviting large groups of Hispanics into the fold, resulting in backing by the Latin Kings. The Mongols, mainly a west coast club, are now moving east, with Richter’s blessing, sources says, opening up it’s first New Jersey chapter late last year.

Law enforcement points to Richter’s tapping of Hugo (Zorro) Nieves of New Jersey as his national vice president as a key to growing the club’s numbers and galvanizing such strong support from the rank and file. Nieves is well-spoken, intelligent and capable and has brilliantly acted as Richter’s mouthpiece to the public. Richter has also leaned on Nieves to politic with the Latin Kings on his behalf, per sources.

March 10, 2021 – The first salvo in The Pagan’s Motorcycle Club’s battle for the west was fired across the bow last month in a Texas strip club. Per sources in federal law enforcement, The Pagan’s national president Keith (Conan the Barbarian) Richter has established chapters in Texas, Las Vegas and Puerto Rico over the past year as part of his “Blue Wave” expansion plan. Richter runs the club from his home base in Long Island, New York.

On the evening of February 14, a shootout broke out between members of The Pagan’s new Rio Grande Valley chapter and The Banditos Motorcycle Club at Jaguar’s Gentlemen’s Club in Edinburg, Texas. The Pagan’s were backed by The Mongols Motorcycle Club. When police arrived, one combatant suffered a gun shot wound and another was severely beaten.

The man who was shot in the incident was with The Banditos, a Texas-centered club. The FBI and ATF assumed command of the case and have arrested 42 people in connection with the brawl at one of the biggest strip-club chains in the Lonestar State on assault and rioting charges.

Originally launched in 2018, Richter’s initial plan was to just swallow up territory in the east coast. More recently, he has set his sights on nationwide domination though, these sources claim, and targeted west coast and southwest locations to put the Pagan’s first regional footprint down. Future plans are in the works for chapters in Colorado, Arizona and Oklahoma, first and then ultimately a move into California. Richter has actively forged alliances with Hispanic crime groups and other biker empires to bolster his conquest agenda in the region, according to sources and the Blue Wave mandate is now co-signed by the Latin Kings street gang and The Mongols MC.

Under Richter’s leadership, The Pagan’s have doubled in size. Richter has sanctioned the opening of 12 new chapters in the last four years and The Pagan’s have also shored up a beefier roster of support clubs in their new areas of operation.

Richter, 62, was arrested last month on his way home to New York from a Pagan’s party he attended in suburban Philadelphia on a gun-possession charge. He’s cooling his heels behind bars awaiting trial, where he could face up to a 10-to-15 year sentence for a felon in possession of an illegal firearm.

Back in the 1990s, Richter was the boss of the Long Island Pagan’s chapter and national Sergeant At Arms. In 1998, he was incarcerated for extortion and attempted murder and did 15 years of federal prison time. Court records indicate Richter became The Pagan’s national president at some point in 2017.

Richter has what some call a “cult of personality” appeal throughout the Pagan’s ranks and is as beloved and feared like no other figure in the American biker world in decades. According to those familiar with Richter’s plan, the Blue Wave is aimed at going directly after the Hells Angels, the biggest biker brand on the west coast.

March 10, 2021 – Rochester mob hit man Dominic (Trigger Dom) Taddeo will have to wait two more years to taste freedom. The former mafia enforcer has been locked up for more than three decades.

U.S. District Court Frank Geraci, Jr. in the Western District of New York denied Taddeo’s motion for compassionate release from federal prison this week, unconvinced his obesity, elderly age and high blood pressure issues putting him at higher risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus warrant an early walk-date. Taddeo is doing his time in Florida. He’s currently scheduled to be released in 2023.

The 64-year old Taddeo was on the front lines of the Alphabet Wars in the 1970s and early 1980s, where three different mob factions, dubbed the A Team, the B Team and the C Team, faced off for control of the Rochester rackets. Almost the entire crime family was either killed or sent to prison to serve long sentences for racketeering and murder in the fallout from the war. Today, the Rochester mob no longer exists.

In 1989, Taddeo was convicted on weapons charges. Two years later, he pleaded guilty to three gangland homicides and five overall murder conspiracies. Taddeo killed Nick Mastrodonato on May 25, 1982 and then shot Gerald Pelusio to death on August 27, 1982. The following year, he blew Dino Tortatice away on his parents front lawn on August 2, 1983. Mastrodonato, Pelusio and Tortatice were members of the C Team. Taddeo was the A Team’s main enforcer.

March 11, 2021 – A cold-case squad in suburban Boston has identified mob associate Howard Ferrini’s killer. The problem is, he was murdered, too.

The killer’s murder is also getting a fresh look from authorities in recent years.  And so it goes in the brutal New England mafia known locally as the Patriarca crime family.

The 53 year-old Ferrini was bludgeoned and asphyxiated to death in the early 1990s amidst rising tensions and an ongoing power struggle being engaged in by warring factions of the Patriarca clan. At the time, boss Francis (Cadillac Frank) Salemme was fighting a group of rouges from East Boston, exacting revenge for an assassination attempt aimed at him carried out at a Saugus, Massachusetts International House of Pancakes in June 1989. Salemme’s tear of bloodshed resulted in at least a half-dozen gangland slayings and retribution executions.

The District Attorneys Office in Bristol, Massachusetts reopened the Ferrini case last year. State police lab techs matched DNA from infamous slain Irish mob enforcer Kevin Hanrahan to the crime scene.

Ferrini disappeared on his way to Raynham Dog Track on August 16, 1991. A week later, on August 21, Boston Police found Ferrini’s decomposing body in the trunk of his blue-colored Cadillac in the long-term parking section at Logan International Airport. His head had been crushed by a hammer and his head was covered by a blue plastic bag. He had $6,000 in cash and jewelry on him when police discovered his body. Police found Hanrahan’s DNA on the plastic bag.

A bookie and professional gambler, Ferrini was aligned against Cadillac Frank Salemme’s regime, siding with North End capo Vinnie (The Animal) Ferrara, who was in prison at the time of Ferrini’s murder, in the Beantown mob war. Ferrara’s North End crew joined forces with the East Boston contingent to oppose Salemme’s reign.

Salemme became a government informant in 1999 and was convicted of a 1993 cold-case murder almost three years ago. The 88-year old Cadillac Frank is serving life in prison.

Hanrahan, 39, was murdered on Salemme’s orders in September 1992 in Providence. Salemme believed Hanrahan was plotting to murder him and caught him extorting protected bookmakers in Massachusetts. When he died, Hanrahan was a suspect in multiple Patriarca crime family-connected murders.

March 17, 2021 – Hip-Hop icon and platinum selling rapper Snoop Dogg has signed on to play “Pastor Swift,” in the highly-anticipated Starz television show Black Mafia Family, chronicling the rise and fall of Detroit’s dope-boy fabulous Flenory brothers. The show began shooting in Michigan and Georgia back in January.

Production on the Season 1 of the 50 Cent-backed project is scheduled to run through the summer. The project is 50 Cent’s follow-up to the smash hit Power, which ran from 2014 until 2020 and became the Starz cable network’s signature show and served as the network’s first foray into “prestige programming.” Power focused on a fictional drug kingpin named “Ghost” (played brilliantly by actor Omari Hardrick) out of New York City. 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg are two of the best-selling rappers of all-time and have each made individual fortunes in the business world, as well as dabbled in the acting world.

Set in the 1980s, Season 1 of Black Mafia Family tells the true story brothers Demetrius (Big Meech) Flenory and Terry (Southwest T) Flenory, who begin their lives as Detroit drug dealers on their way to North American domination of the dope game in the years to come. At some point in the 1990s, with Big Meech planting roots in Atlanta and his little brother opening the organization’s west coast branch in Los Angeles, the group dubbed itself “BMF.”

Snoop Dogg’s character Pastor Swift is described as the Flenorys “spiritual advisor, a man of God, with the aura of an ex-con.” According to the press release announcing Snoop Dogg’s casting, Pastor Swift inserts himself into every aspect of the Flenorys business and personal lives, handling their legal team and acting as an unofficial BMF “consigliere.”

By the 2000s, Big Meech and Southwest T had BMF “franchises” set up all over the United States and were raking in hundreds of millions of dollars, not to mention establishing themselves as genuine pop-culture deities. The Flenorys went down in 2005’s Operation Motor City Mafia Bust and were both sentenced to 30-year prisons sentences after guilty pleas in 2007. Snoop Dogg met Southwest T in L.A. and befriended him and several other top BMF members in their collective heyday.

Big Meech’s son, aspiring rapper Demetrius (Lil’ Meech) will play his dad in the show. Da’Vinchi (All-American, The Boys) has been cast as Southwest T. The real Southwest T Flenory walked out of prison early last spring due to the COVID-19 outbreak and is finishing out his time under home confinement back in Detroit.

Producer Randall Emmett and writer Randy Huggins, both worked with 50 Cent on Power and are on-board with the Black Mafia Family series. Huggins, a native Detroiter, is show-running the project.

Snoop Dogg was born and raised in L.A. He debuted in the 1990s with double-platinum albums Doggystyle (1993) and The Doggfather (1996) on the Death Row Records label. His first appearance on the big screen was in Dave Chappelle’s 1998 cult-classic Half Baked.

March 17, 2021 – Veteran Bruno-Scarfo wiseguy Vincent (Beeps) Centorino died last month of natural causes at the age of 90 in New Jersey. For a short period of time in the early 2000s, Beeps Centorino ran the Philadelphia mafia’s North Jersey crew. He was nailed for racketeering by the feds in 2001 and sent to prison for five years. When he died on February 13, he was living in Lebanon, New Jersey.

Centorino was born in Brooklyn, but grew up in Newark, joining the Bruno-Scarfo crime family in 1990. Per FBI records, Centorino operated out of Newark’s East Side Social Club and participated in the murder conspiracy surrounding the December 1996 gangland slaying of one of his Jersey skipper predecessors, Joe (The Nodder) Sodano.

Sodano was clipped for not responding to then Philly don Ralph Natale’s orders to “report” to him and put his rackets “on record” with the Natale regime, which lasted from 1994 until 1999. Natale gave the murder contract to Pete (The Crumb) Caprio, who had a bodyguard of his carry out the job and shoot Sodano to death behind the wheel of his car.

Natale became a witness for the government in the fall of 1999. Caprio subsequently took over as captain of the Newark-based crew, until he flipped in the spring of 2000. With Caprio entering the Witness Protection Program, Beeps Centorino was made capo of the Bruno-Scarfo clan’s North Jersey regime. He only lasted a year in the post before he went down in a bust and was doing a nickel-piece in the pen.

Upon his release from prison in 2006, Centorino was demoted to a soldier in the Philly crime family and had trouble scraping together a living as an everyday button man in the New Millennium. Taped conversations of Bruno-Scarfo mobsters chatting in 2010 in a New Jersey Italian bistro caught talk of Centorino being a “brokester,” unable to generate “even three cents” for reputed current Newark crew boss Joe (Scoops) Licata and resorting to “selling cakes out of the trunk of his car.”

March 18, 2021 – Score one for Uncle Sam in the fight against Mexico’s Jalisco New Generation drug cartel. Jessica (La Negra) Oseguera Gonzales, the daughter of the world’s most wanted Narcos czar, Nemesio (El Mencho) Oseguera Cervantes, pleaded guilty to drug and money laundering violations in a “Kingpin Act” case out of federal court last week. The 34-year old La Negra copped to five separate counts of using businesses in both the United States and Mexico to aid in the operations of her father’s cartel empire.

Per an indictment filed in February 2020, La Negra provided financial support to a series of real-estate investments in the U.S. and legitimate businesses in Mexico, including a pair of sushi restaurants and a tequila company, that her father’s organization funneled drug proceeds though. She was was taken into custody trying to attend a court hearing for her little brother, 31-year old, Ruben (El Menchito) Oseguera, in Washington D.C. El Menchito is behind bars awaiting trial on a separate Kingpin Act case.

El Mencho, 54, is the biggest drug lord on the globe. He’s been on the run since 2012. The DEA is offering a $10,000,000 reward for information that leads to his capture. Both La Negra and El Menchito are U.S. citizens, having been born in San Francisco.

El Mench got his start in the Northern California drug trade of the 1980s, doing a federal prison sentence for smuggling before moving back to his Mexico and joining the now-defunct Milenio Cartel. According to DEA documents, El Mencho worked as an enforcer for the cartel’s bosses, the Valencia brothers, eventually becoming the Valencias’ crew boss in Guadalajara. When the Valencias went to prison and the Milenio Cartel fell apart at the start of the 2010s, El Mencho founded his Jalisco New Generation Cartel, moving his headquarters from Guadalajara to Jalisco.
